Visa Introduces Checkout to Compete with Paypal
If you’re like me and do most of your shopping online, you’re going to love this.
Visa just introduced Checkout, a new way for consumers to securely shop online or from their mobile phones without having to re-enter their credit card, billing, or shipping information each time. Once you’re done shopping and ready to pay, a dialog box will pop up prompting you to select your preferred method of payment and desired shipping address.
Unlike PayPal, with Visa Checkout, the transaction is completed without ever leaving the page. The next time a user wants to make a purchase, all they have to do is enter their username and password. How great is that? This simplified process not only improves security, but also creates a seamless and secure checkout experience for customers that will hopefully improve cart-abandonment rates, a problem that many merchants have been hard-pressed to solve.
Visa Checkout benefits not only consumers but merchants as well. It can be easily implemented into any e-commerce site with just a few clicks and a few lines of HTML and JavaScript. On top of the simple integration, merchants won’t be charged additional fees to process transactions, which could otherwise turn into a significant expense.
If you’re feeling left out because you own a MasterCard or Amex, worry not, Visa Checkout works with all major credit card brands and will even authenticate a customer’s payment information before they even make a purchase, which helps to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions.
