Sources: New Mac Mini to Arrive in October
Two years is an especially long period to wait between releases of a desktop computer model, yet that’s what Apple’s done with the Mac Mini. The tiny, standalone PC is the most inexpensive way to join the Mac community, but it was last updated in October 2012. That’s a problem.
Fortunately, it’s one that could be addressed next month.
According to MacRumors, an extremely reputable Apple site, Apple plans to release a brand new version of the Mac Mini next month. New iPads are also rumored to be coming next month, which means we could see quite a packed event. Will it rival the super stacked presentation we saw on the 9th? That’s a high bar to reach. But a new Mac Mini could join a new iPad Air, a new iPad mini, and that iPad Pro we keep hearing murmurs about. Not to mention, OS X Yosemite will be released to the public, too.
That’s a lot of stuff.
Personally, I’ll be pretty pleased to see a new Mac Mini in the lineup. As I said previously, it’s inexpensive (when compared to other Macs, at least) and lets you use any type of display with your Mac. If you don’t have a lot of room, the size is extremely attractive, as well. And on the size front, it makes a great home entertainment PC if you’re the type to plug it into your TV.
MacRumors doesn’t have anything solid to go on as far as specs go, nor is there any news on price. But just the fact that a new Mini could be on the way is great news for the Mac community.
What do you think? Will you get a new Mac Mini if one is unveiled next month? Leave your thoughts below.
