Sony and Microsoft Are Selling Some Pretty Cheap Video Games (for Last-Gen)

This is just a public service announcement for you gamers out there. If you own a PlayStation 3 or a Vita, you can save quite a bit of money by heading over to the PSN Store right now. I mean right now. Why? It’s Flash Sale time, and Sony has 28 games priced at an ultra-reasonable 99 cents.

Some of the goodies I see include:

  • Worms Revolution
  • Thomas Was Alone
  • Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD
  • Dino Crysis and Dino Crysis 2
  • Twisted Metal Black
  • Syphon FilterSyphon Filter 2 and Syphon Filter 3

Sure, some of these are original PlayStation titles, but in the lull during major releases that we call summer, it might not be a bad time to revisit some of these classics. And you can own all the ones I mentioned for under $10, which is nothing to sneeze at. You can see the whole list here.

Sony isn’t the only console company getting in on the sales game, by the way. Microsoft has been having sales this whole past week for Xbox 360 titles. Notable games on sale include:

  • Grand Theft Auto 5 ($30)
  • Crysis 3 ($11.99)
  • Bastion ($3.74)
  • Dishonored ($6.59)
  • Skyrim ($9.89)
  • Fallout 3 ($4.94)
  • Portal 2 ($6.59)

There are some other games in addition to those listed above, and some of the deals change daily, so you’ll want to keep an eye on Major Nelson’s blog for updates.

Some of these prices are pretty ridiculous (in a good way), and they at least provide me with some hope that sales will become more plentiful on next-gen platforms as the libraries grow. I know I will definitely be adding to my digital Xbox 360 collection, and many others will be doing so on both the PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Will you? Let us know.
