Are you living in the United Kingdom and have been eagerly awaiting the release of the popular second generation Nexus 7? Well, I’ve got some excellent news for you – a couple of weeks ago I reported that retailers had given the new Nexus 7 a September 13 release date, however it now appears that ASUS has other plans for the tablet in demand. ASUS representatives have confirmed to Engadget that the new Nexus 7 will actually be launching to UK based retailers significantly earlier than expected on August 28th – a full two weeks earlier than we first believed.
ASUS has also confirmed the pricing for the Nexus 7 overseas. The British will be forced to shell out £199.99 for the 16GB WiFi model and a whopping £239.99 for the 32GB WiFi model, with the LTE version sitting noticeably absent for the time being. That’s almost $100 more than what Americans have to pay for each respective Nexus 7 model, a seemingly silly price hike even given the UK’s infamous VAT rates. Still, if you’re eager to get your hands on a 7″ tablet with a gorgeous 1080p high-DPI display, Android 4.3, and a back-facing camera it’s a small price to pay for the privilege.
