Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series tablets arrive in the United States

If you’re a fan of Samsung’s popular Galaxy Tab series of tablets, prepare to get even more excited; Samsung has just announced the US release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series of tablets, including the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. All three tablets will launch on  July 7th at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.

Wondering which Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet is right for you? Well, the three different models are all similar in name and design, but for the most part that’s all they share. If you require a tablet with a big screen and a powerhouse of a processor, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will make for a great tablet with an interesting label – it’s the first Samsung Android tablet to ship with an Intel processor inside. Powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom Z2560 processor of the sorts usually reserved for proper Windows PCs, it’s one of the first mainstream Android devices ever to carry an Intel processor. It runs Android 4.2.2 – thankfully a modern version of the Android operating system, unlike many other Android devices in use today, You’ll also get 16GB of internal storage, a 6,800 mAh battery, the usual pair of front and back facing cameras, as well as that 1280 x 800 10.1″ display. Unfortunately, with a resolution that low screen quality will be significantly worse than the competition including Samsung’s own Nexus 10 Android tablet and Apple’s iPad with Retina Display, both of which have over twice the pixels of the Galaxy Tab 3.

If you don’t need that Intel processor or are looking for something a bit more on the portable side, Samsung’s got you covered at both ends of the spectrum, first with the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. Containing a dual-core 1.5 GHz “Exynos” processor, a high density 1280 x 800 8-inch display, 1.5 GB of RAM, a set of cameras and 16GB of internal storage, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is the perfect iPad mini alternative if you’re looking for something from Samsung. It’s also priced competitively against Apple’s mini tablet at $299, undercutting the iPad mini by $20 while delivering specs that are on par with if not better than Apple’s offering.

At the shallowest end of the pool we’ve got the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, a tiny little tablet with a dual-core 1.2 GHz “Marvell” processor that doesn’t quite have the oomph of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0’s Exynos processor, but should still get the job done in a pinch. Oddly, it runs an older version of Android, Android 4.1 versus the other two tablet’s Android 4.2, and has a low resolution 1024 x 600. Though it has only 8GB of internal storage, it does however have both front and back facing cameras, somewhat more useful on a 7-inch tablet which is more suited for taking photos. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 will be available for $199, competitive with Asus’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

All three tablets come with $10 in free Google Play credit to help you find that perfect application from the get go, and versions of both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 8.0 will come in LTE variants for those of you who want high speed internet on the go with the major carriers. You can chose between white or brown models (though brown seems like an odd choice) and pre-order from any of the aforementioned retailers starting tomorrow, June 25th.
