Rumor: iPhone 7 to Have DSLR-Quality Camera
Sure, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus just launched in September. But those things are already OLD NEWS. We need new rumors about the iPhone 7, right? Right. Fortunately, the rumor mill is never silent for long, and a new post on BGR has one.
The post points the way back to a recent episode of The Talk Show podcast, during which an Apple insider named John Gruber offered up a juicy rumor about the camera that’ll be included on the next iteration of iPhone:
“The specific thing I heard is that next year’s camera might be the biggest camera jump ever. I don’t even know what sense this makes, but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR-quality imagery.”
That’s interesting – a dual-lensed iPhone, eh? This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of a phone boasting two camera lenses to get super good pictures. Early this year, rumors were swirling fast and furious about the HTC One M8’s Duo Camera, which ended up providing a well-reviewed camera experience for that handset. While it’s not yet clear just what Gruber means when he talks about the two-lensed approach, it could wind up being similar to what HTC put on its One M8 handsets.
Of course, this could all be bogus. It is awfully early to start talking about what we’ll see in the next iPhone, especially since we’ve barely scratched the surface with the current iPhone 6 models that are still finding their way into new users’ hands. Even still, let’s keep our ears to the ground for any more news about the super camera that Apple might put into the iPhone 7…
