Requests For Link Exchanges Are So 10 Years Ago
Dear Webmasters,
I just thought I would let you know requests for link exchanges are so 10 years ago. I’m seriously tired of receiving all of these bogus requests via email to exchange links. First of all, linking back doesn’t mean what it did in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Search engines are smarter now, a simple link doesn’t carry nearly as much weight as good SEO (search engine optimization) does. And, unless you have insane traffic and are going to be putting my link or logo in prime real estate on your site, I’m not interested, period.
The one thing that bothers me even more than receiving the link exchange request is when webmasters lie about their statistics. I’m going to post a recent email I received from the The Attorneys Forum where they claim to be the number one result for the word attorneys and guess what, they’re not. They are not even on the first page of Google, Bing, or Yahoo. And to top it off, these guys are averaging about 5,000 unique visits a month.
And yes, I know I just gave them some free publicity, I will be emailing this link back to Mr. Williams. Nonetheless, the email is below:
