Poll Shows Americans Believe Apple Should Unlock the iPhone for the FBI

A recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that the majority of Americans appear to side with the FBI when it comes to whether or not Apple should unlock the iPhone of the San Bernardino shooter. What struck me as most interesting in all of these graphs is how even the majority of younger Americans polled (18-29) also sided with the FBI’s request to unlock the phone.

I’m personally with Apple on this, especially since there has been some evidence indicating the FBI made mistakes when trying to gain access to the phone originally, putting them in the predicament that they are in now. But even more importantly, creating a backdoor to a device that hundreds of millions of people own and use every day to store all kinds of data seems like a very bad idea. Once something like that is created, it can fall into the wrong hands. And you should not be naive enough to think that it would ever be completely safe from someone who is not authorized to have access to it.
