Onewheel Pint: the most fun for under $1,000?
On a dreary day in Brooklyn, New York I had a chance to test ride the Onewheel Pint and even brought some friends along for the ride. The Pint is the latest product released by Onewheel, it’s essentially a smaller, more friendly version of the Onewheel XR, the company’s original product.
When I first stepped onto the Onewheel Pint for the first time, I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous. I had no idea what to expect from it–would it zoom off and throw me to the ground? Thankfully, the answer was no. Onewheel’s tech is impressive, the Pint does practically all of the work–you just need to stand, look out in front of you, and let your weight and the board effortlessly help you glide from point A to point B.
Riding the Onewheel Pint definitely has a little bit of a learning curve, as does anything, but after a few rides on it, I definitely felt myself becoming more comfortable as I began to understand how little I actually needed to do.
First time riding tips
- Find a place to rest your feet on the Pint that’s comfortable. This is super important.
- Find a good stance for yourself.
- Look out in front of you, not on the ground.
- Use your weight to accelerate.
- Don’t try and do too much–just ride.
The Onewheel Pint gets about 6-8 miles per charge (though I’m told by Jack Mudd that that may be a conservative estimate) and can reach speeds of up to 16mph. It retails starting at $950 and can be customized with various accessories, including colored fenders, bumpers, handles, Surestance footpads, and ultrachargers.
As the holiday’s approach this year, I’d seriously consider putting the Onewheel Pint on your wishlist. It’s a ton of fun and as Jack suggested, it may even be the most fun gadget you’ll be able to buy this year for under $1,000. Though stay tuned on that as I’m planning to work on an article for the best/most fun gadgets under $1,000.
