Moto G Launches on Verizon Off-Contract for Just $99.99

The Moto G was already an amazing value at just $179.99 for an 8GB unlocked model, but for Americans that deal may have just gotten even sweeter. If you’re okay with giving your hard earned cash to Verizon, you can now get yourself an off-contract Moto G for just $99.99 – that’s $75 less than it’ll cost you otherwise. Of course, there is a slight catch. Because this is a Verizon 3G phone – there’s no LTE to be found here, just like on other incarnations of the Moto G – that means that this device is limited to CDMA networks with no GSM support. In other words, you’ll pretty much be stuck with Verizon and its subsidies if you want to get any use out of this.

That said, Verizon is bundling this phone with a prepaid plan, which is decently reasonable. On top of that initial $99.99 for the phone, you’ll be looking at $60/month for unlimited text, unlimited voice, and 2GB of data – not a bad price for such a large pool of add ons. Or, if you need more, you can upgrade to 4GB of data for just $70/month.

For those who aren’t quite as familiar with the Moto G, what you’re looking at is pretty much a midrange phone in a body that’s reminiscent of the much pricier Moto X in all of the right ways. While you might think that specs have to be lacking for such an inexpensive device, you’d be happily surprised – Motorola has loaded the Moto G up with a new quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch 720p LCD display, 8GB of internal storage, 50GB of bundled Google Drive cloud storage, and near-stock Android 4.3 that Motorola promises will be seeing an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat in the very near future. All in all, if you’re looking for an inexpensive smartphone but aren’t willing to give up on some of the plush niceties you may be used to on higher end smartphones, definitely give this a look.
