6 luxury tech gifts for $1,000 or less (2019)
Back in October, Onewheel chief evangelist, Jack Mudd, bet me that I couldn’t find a more fun gift for this holiday season than the Onewheel Pint for [under] $1,000. I decided to take on that bet. How do I think I did? Well, read on to find out. Below is a compilation of luxury tech gifts ranging in price, but all $1,000 or less.
1. DJI Mavic Pro 4K Quadcopter
The DJI Mavic Pro 4k is an incredible quadcopter drone that can fly at speeds of up to 40mph for as long as 27 minutes! It shoots 4k [fully stabilized] video too, as the name suggests. DJI is a reputable drone maker which has developed quite the reputation for making great gifts over the past few years. You are bound to have a ton of fun flying this bad boy around outside… at least for about a half an hour. The DJI Mavic Pro 4k retails for $889.
Secondary drone option: the Skydio 2. Available for reservation right now for $100, but will ultimately cost you $999, the Skydio 2 is another quadcopter that captures stunning 4K/60 HDR content and can even follow subjects and avoids obstacles to create previously impossible shots. It can reach autonomous speeds of up to 36mph and can fly for up to 23 minutes.
2. GoPro Hero8 Black
GoPro is back at it with another fun action camera, the Hero8 Black. It features updated Hypersmooth and TimeWarp video technologies as well as improved camera tech. I have a Hero6 Black and I love mine. And of course, it’s waterproof so you can take it in the ocean or the pool. GoPro has done a great job with the Hero line of products, they’re rugged, versatile, and work well. Definitely a great camera for this holiday season. The Hero8 Black retails for $349.
3. Onewheel Pint
As I covered back in October, the Onewheel Pint is a ton of fun to ride. It gets about 6-8 miles per charge (though I’m told by Jack Mudd that that may be a conservative estimate) and can reach speeds of up to 16mph. It retails starting at $950 and can be customized with various accessories, including colored fenders, bumpers, handles, Surestance footpads, and ultrachargers.

4. Bose Soundbar 700 w/ Alexa
If you’re in the market for a good sound bar then may I recommend the Bose Soundbar 700. This is actually the sound bar I recently bought along with my new TV. It sounds great and looks sleek. It’s definitely an improvement to any sound that comes directly out of your TV. You can pick it up for $699.
5. Master & Dynamic MW65 headphones
Anyone who has been following BestTechie for a while knows I’m a fan of Master & Dynamic audio products, the latest release from them, the MW65’s are no different. The MW65’s are similar to the MW60’s which we looked at a while back, but also include ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) which is great if you’re looking to tune around your surroundings. The MW65’s retail for $499.
6. iRobot Roomba i7+
Cleaning up messes is the worst, especially during the holidays when you have guests over. So why not look into buying the Roomba i7+? The latest Roomba empties on its own and is much smarter than its predecessors in terms of finding and cleaning dirt and other messes (including pet hair). The Roomba i7+ retails for $699.
Final thoughts
We searched far and wide to come up with a list of luxury tech gifts we felt were worthy of their price tag and here it is, but are any of them actually more fun than the Onewheel Pint? I find it very difficult to say yes, which means I need to crown the Onewheel Pint the most fun gadget under $1,000 in 2019.
