iShower Review: Rock Out to Music in the Shower

If you love listening to music all the time, then this product is for you.  It’s called the iShower — and no, it’s not made by Apple, but it’s still pretty stylish.  The iShower is a water resistent (not water proof — so don’t try submerging it in water for an extended period of time) speaker that works with almost every smartphone and tablet provided it has Bluetooth technology.  It offers the ability to pair with up to five devices so your whole family or a bunch of your friends can use it too.

You don’t need any special software or apps to use the iShower with your music, simply pair your device with the iShower and start playing music.  You can basically use any app you can think of with the iShower including, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and iTunes. Additionally, the iShower can be paired with a computer that has Bluetooth built-in, for example, I’ve paired my MacBook Pro with the iShower and can play anything in my iTunes library on my iShower.  Technically, I can even play an audio file in my browser on a site such as SoundCloud and it will still go through to my iShower.

In terms of sound quality, the iShower is pretty impressive.  For such a little device you wouldn’t expect to it pack such a punch, but you can really rock out to it.  I mean, it’s certainly no pair of Bowers & Wilkins speakers, but it does the job while you’re in the shower or by the pool.  The iShower works with devices up to 200 feet away, and in my experience, leaving my laptop on the opposite end of the apartment from the bathroom and then going to shower, the iShower worked perfectly.

The device has a set of play/pause, forward/back, and volume up/down buttons built-in to the front, making them easy to access, and the buttons are fairly large so it’s easy to push even if your hands are wet.  One thing I think worth mentioning is that it can be tedious to skip through a bunch of songs using the forward/back buttons on the iShower, so if you plan on skipping around your library a lot, you may want to consider making a playlist for your iShower usage.  In terms of other buttons, the iShower also has a button that can be used to display a clock on the front of the device in big blue numbers, which I have found to be useful if you lose track of time while rocking out in the shower.

You can easily hang the iShower from the shower head or mount it to the wall, additionally, you can use the handle that lets you hang it from the shower head as stand if you take it to the pool or beach.  It’s also worth mentioning that the device is thick enough to stand up on its own.

In terms of battery life, it really depends on how much you use it.  I’d say mileage will vary, but at the very least a few weeks with every day usage.  The company does provide three AA batteries though when you buy the product, which is nice.

Overall, I’d recommend the iShower.  Not only is it a great product, it’s also a great way to spice up your morning shower and make it more enjoyable.  You can pick up your own iShower for $99.
