iPod touch sales reach 100 million
Every once in a while, a stat comes out that puts Apple’s insane sales numbers into perspective. Today, the good news for Apple, as reported by The Loop, is that the company has now sold 100 million iPod touches since the device was first launched in 2007.
In terms of portable media players that aren’t iPhones, the iPod touch runs away with the crown easily. If it was considered a game system, it would win there, too. Nintendo announced at the beginning of the month that its Nintendo 3DS, which launched on March 27, 2011, has sold 8 million units to date. Sony’s PlayStation Vita has sold just over a million units since launching in March 2012.
Average per year: Apple, 16.6 million; Nintendo, 4 million; Sony, 1 million.
So, where’s that Apple game console?
