HTC Announces Desire 320 at CES
Last week, HTC tweeted about some BIG SURPRISES coming soon from the company in 2015. It stood to reason, then, that we’d hear about some of those surprises at CES in Las Vegas, the place where tech companies gather to show off their newest wares and get us salivating for our tech-filled futures. And so HTC has announced a budget-priced installment in its Desire smartphone line, the Desire 320. Boing!
A post on Neowin summarizes the specs that we’ll find on the Desire 320, whenever it shows up, wherever it shows up (though it’ll probably appear in China, at least based on HTC’s teaser on Weibo last week). The new Desire will sport a 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480 pixels, so its visuals will fall short of the high definition threshold. It’ll also sport a 5 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera, so no sweet looking selfies are going to be happening here, either.
Additionally, the Desire 320 will feature a 1.3 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32 GB via MicroSD), and will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Chances seem good that its modest specifications won’t really allow it to upgrade to Android 5, so…yeah. There you go.
In all, it’s not a bad smartphone at all, and will be more than adequate for doing all the kinds of things people like to do on smartphones: talk, text, Tweet, Facebook, and even games. But so far, it’s a little disappointing that HTC hasn’t wowed us at CES yet. On the other hand, HTC makes phones first and foremost, and the Mobile World Conference is set to kick off in Barcelona in March. As such, the company could very well have its big surprises tucked away, waiting for that event to make everyone’s eyeballs explode. Let’s hope so.
