Facebook Introduces Save Feature
Facebook is in the process of rolling out “Save,” a new feature that allows users to bookmark interesting content such as links, places, TV shows, or music from their Newsfeed so they can access it at a later time.
The new feature can be found within the dropdown menu in the top right of any post. Saved content can then be accessed under the “More” tab on the mobile app or by tapping the “Saved” link on the left-hand side of the Newsfeed on the desktop. Facebook will occasionally remind you about the things that you’ve saved by featuring your bookmarks within your Newsfeed.
By default, your saved content will only be visible to you unless you choose to share it with friends.
Unlike Instapaper or Pocket, offline access to saved content is currently not supported.
I am always finding interesting content on Facebook when I’m in a hurry and have no time to read it, so this new feature is a welcome improvement that saves me from having to share certain content just so that I am able to find it again later. I could see this new Save feature being used to bookmark restaurants, which could definitely come in handy when deciding where to eat.
