Dual Monitors vs Single Monitor

How many monitor(s) should you use? Well, the answer varies depending on your personal needs and preferences. For me, dual monitors increase my productivity. My current monitors are a pair of 20″ Acer AL2016W wide screens.

I am able to be more productive by using dual monitors as it allows me to have more applications and documents open at once, therefore I can do much more.  However, this may not be best for someone who cannot multitask well or gets distracted easily.  If you cannot afford dual monitors you may want to look into the Microsoft Powertoy which allows you to create virtual desktops (acting as dual monitors).  OSX Leopard has something built in called Spaces which does the same thing.  Even most Linux distrubutions will provide a virtual desktop application.
