Destiny Diary, Issue 3: 'House of Wolves' News, Updates, and Xur
So today is Friday, and I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a much better day to publish Destiny Diary, as it’s both the day that Xur arrives in the Tower, as well as the day after Bungie’s usual weekly update post. I think sharing the news with you Friday going forward will be way more useful — if you have thoughts, let me know! Now, let’s get to it.
Destiny Announces ‘House of Wolves’ Release Window, Other Updates
In last week’s Weekly Update, Bungie finally gave us a general release window for Destiny’s next expansion, House of Wolves. And if you thought that Bungie would stick to releasing DLC every three months, you were wrong. The company announced that House of Wolves will drop sometime in the second quarter of the year, meaning April, May, or June. I’ve seen a lot of opinions flying around that May and June are way, way too long to wait, and I’m inclined to agree. I’ll be crossing my fingers for an early April release, and hoping that a later one won’t negatively affect Destiny’s player count.
That release window isn’t the only news Bungie had to share. There will also be some changes made to the weapons of Destiny; these changes will hopefully compel players to find uses for all weapon types — including pulse rifles, which Bungie revealed are used about 2% of the time in Control multiplayer. And that heavy ammo bug? Yes, the developers know it’s there, and there are plans to fix it by the end of this month.
Lastly, this week’s update post talked about a feature many will find useful, especially if they’re leveling up with multiple factions. Bungie developers are building a tracking system into the inventory screen that will show players their ranks with all factions and vendors, allowing you to check them all without having to run around the Tower to each representative. I’m totally on board with this one.
Xur Is Selling Icebreaker Again
If you missed your shot at Icebreaker two weeks ago, I have some good news for you: you’re getting another chance. Destiny’s most famous vendor is back for Friday and Saturday only, and he’s again selling Icebreaker, which is widely considered to be the best sniper rifle in the game. So if you don’t have it yet, and you have 17 Strange Coins lying around, go to the Tower and find Xur — he’s in the Tower hanger, all the way down the stairs in the lounge-looking area.

That’ll do it for this week’s post. Check back in next Friday for more Destiny goodness. Now, I’m off to try and complete some raids. Wish me luck!
