Bethesda Delays Elder Scrolls Online for Consoles


If you’re a console user who has been eagerly awaiting your next trip to Bethesda’s immersive Elder Scrolls universe, looks like you’ll have to be waiting a good while longer: the company has just announced that they’re delaying Elder Scrolls Online, the massive multiplayer sequel to 2011’s Elder Scrolls: Skyrim game on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

While Elder Scrolls Online was slated to hit consoles next month, Bethesda says that they’re going to “need more time” to develop these versions of the game. As such, we’re now looking at a November release on consoles – a bitter pill to swallow considering that the PC version of the game was released April 4th – over a month ago now.

The news quickly spread on Reddit and Bethesda’s company forums this morning when the company accidentally posted on their FAQ that “it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.” The company quietly pulled the FAQ, but not before hysteria hit. When it became clear that there was no use trying to put the genie back in the bottle – despite going so far as banning anybody who posted about the news – Bethesda has confirmed the news rather than continued to play shy.
