BestTechie.net Turns 6 Years Old

It was 6 years ago on this day (May 7th, 2003) that I registered the domain BestTechie.net.  A lot of people ask me how I came up with the name for the site and if there is a story behind it so I figured what a better time to tell “the story” then on it’s birthday.  I was 13 years old at the time and honestly I didn’t have much a clue what I planned to do with the site – I just wanted a domain name of my own so I could blog.  I do not really remember what prompted me to think of BestTechie, however, I do remember that I thought the .net sounded “cooler” than the .com which I why I went with that TLD.  Over the years, BestTechie.net has evolved and matured along with me and I’m very proud of that.

In the past 6 years, BestTechie has been through a lot (both good and bad).  We have experienced a number of redesigns, various web hosts (including one hosting fiasco where I almost lost the site), numerous growth spurts, a few acquisitions (most noteably BestTechie.com and MalwareSupport.com), a number of heated debates, and best of all have developed a great community.  I’m sure I missed a bunch of other things so if you have anything to add feel free to do so in the comments.
