Apple likely to update its MacBook line at WWDC

While Apple’s WWDC conference is traditionally a very developer oriented event, focusing not on hardware but software, Apple is seemingly set to introduce some long awaited updates to its MacBook line at this year’s conference, scheduled to begin on June 10th. This is according to inventory numbers supposedly correlating to four new MacBook configurations obtained by 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman, who has an excellent track record with upcoming Apple products.

According to the numbers, Apple will be updating at least two separate MacBook lines, each with a minimum of two potential configurations. The codes are as follows:

MD711LL/A — Better — USA
MD712LL/A — Best – USA
MD760LL/A — Better – USA
MD761LL/A — Best – USA

While it’s unclear which MacBook line (Air or Pro) will be receiving the updates at this time, the MacBook Pro with Retina Display is thought to be the likely candidate.  A recent rumor had indicated that Apple would be significantly updating the design of the 13″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display with a slimmer unibody construction, while the 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display would receive a more modest spec boost, most likely with Intel’s new Haswell line of processors.

With all that being said, it has also been quite some time since the MacBook Air received any love from Apple, so it’s entirely possible we’ll see updates for those as well sometime in the near future.
