Apple is Giving Stuff Away on iOS

Apple still offers its usual App of the Week that it gives away for nothing, but the company is also hooking iOS users up with 12 days of freebies this holiday season. Technically, the giveaway, dubbed “12 Days of Gifts,” started on Thursday, but it’s not too late to jump in on today’s deal as well as the rest Apple will offer until the promotion ends on January 6.

Today’s free gift from Apple is a book from the iBooks store — Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2014. Previous gifts have included Justin Timberlake tracks and the game Tiny Thief. In order to get in on the action, you’ll need to download the 12 Days of Gifts app for your respective iOS device — iPhone, iPad or iPod touch — and check the app each day.

And just so you don’t miss on the free goods, Apple has included push notifications in the app so you’ll be alerted when a new freebie is available.
