4 Tech Products Every 90s Kid Had or Wanted Badly

Here’s a fun weekend post, if you grew up in the 90s or were at least around during that time period, you’ll probably get a kick out of this.  I present to you four tech products every 90s kid either had or badly wanted and their parents wouldn’t allow it.

Let us know which group you fell into in the comments!

The Tamagotchi: Every 90s kid favorite digital pet.  The little bundle of fun came in a little egg shaped device, and belonged in every 90s kid pocket or attached to their oversized backpack.  It taught us some responsibility and was all the rave, at least, until your digital pet died.

The Talkboy (and Talkgirl): This fine gadget, first popularized by Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone 2 made everyone’s Christmas and Chanukah wish lists. As with most portable voice recorders, the Talkboy came with play, stop, fast forward, rewind, pause, and record buttons, but it also had an integrated grip handle for easy carrying, and an extendable microphone, plus perhaps its signature feature was its ability to change playback speed, allowing it to act as a voice changing device (as shown in Home Alone 2, of course).

The Cybiko: Ok, ok. The Cybiko actually came out in the early 2000s, but go with me on this one. The Cybiko was the kids version of the Palm Pilot or Handspring Visor, you could install games, use apps, play music, take notes, link them with other Cybiko’s, and all sorts of other cool stuff. I had the blue one, it was awesome.

Snake: Not necessarily a product, more like crucial part of a cell phone.  Every kid wanted a parent who had a cell phone (typically one of those old Nokia phones) that could play Snake. Neither of my parents did, however, one of my closest friends parents did, so I lucked out. Playing Snake was a great way to pass time in a long and boring car ride.
